Dear all,
Spring is rapidly giving way to summer, and the children are definitely sensing the shift in both the weather and the school year. As a result, we are seeing some increased restlessness and challenges with routines and relationships. I hope this week provides a return to greater structure and rhythm following the Golden Week break and the short week that followed.
At this time of year, one of the most important things we can provide for students is calm, predictability, and trust in routines. Even when we are all feeling tired, maintaining those consistent expectations and supports matters greatly for our students. As a certain Mr. Combes recently asked teachers: What is it you would like your students to remember about you from this school year? What professional and personal legacy do you still hope to instill while there is still time to do so?
This week, we will have our Tuesday morning briefing, including messages on Mental Health Week, the Falcon Cup, and other upcoming events. On Wednesday, we will begin focusing on the report card writing process. We will review the guidelines together, then give teams and individuals time to begin the writing process.
On Thursday, we will welcome a large number of young soccer players to the CA campus as the annual Falcon Cup brings hundreds of children together to play the world’s most popular sport, enjoy team spirit, demonstrate sportsmanship, build new friendships, and simply spend meaningful time outdoors with peers, coaches, teachers, and parents. The day will naturally be somewhat disruptive to learning in several grade levels, as more than 90 CA students will participate in this long-anticipated tournament. Please take the opportunity to cheer on all the teams and enjoy some of the games throughout the day.
Wishing you all a wonderful week of learning and belonging!
Katie, Erin, and Heikki
