We Did It!

Yes, we still have a few days to go before we reach the final showcase of this highly successful, emotional, and eventful rollercoaster ride that has been the 2025–26 school year. However, we all know that together we can make it happen, and we know that in the coming days you all will continue to find the joy, purpose, and sense of belonging that bind this amazing school community together.

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who poured their hearts, minds, and professional expertise into writing report card comments and making thoughtful evaluative judgments about student progress and learning. Reading those comments always provides a remarkable insight into our students—their successes, growth, perseverance, and the challenges they have worked through during the school year. They are a powerful reminder of the impact each of you has on the lives of children every day.

Congratulations as well to Elliot and Claudia for the incredible work on the ES Play, The Adaptation of Peter Pan. The students clearly enjoyed every moment of the performance and brought their learning journey to a beautiful conclusion with confidence, grace, and joy. Despite several last-minute adjustments to the script and songs, the production came together wonderfully, creating a warm and memorable experience for our community.

This week will focus on final report card checks, grade-level end-of-year celebrations, and recognizing and celebrating another successful school year. We will also have opportunities to express our gratitude and farewell to colleagues who are moving on to new adventures. And, of course, we will conclude with the last day of school, the final assembly, and our workdays as we prepare classrooms and spaces for the summer break.

As we reflect on all that has been accomplished this year, we should take a moment to acknowledge the collective effort, resilience, flexibility, and care that made it all possible. Schools are ultimately about people, relationships, and shared purpose, and this community continues to demonstrate those qualities every day.

Talking about lasts, this is the final blog post of the school year.

Thank you for everything you have contributed to our students, families, and one another throughout the year. We wish you a wonderful final week and, after that, a well-deserved, restful, and joyful summer break.

Katie, Erin, and Heikki

Weekly Updates, Monday, 1 June, 2026

Happy June, everyone!

Here we are, launching the final two weeks of the 2025–26 school year. This week includes our final Tuesday morning briefing, Wednesday's session focused on reflecting on our final units of learning and the school year as a whole, and, of course, we will finish the week by enjoying the Elementary School production of Peter Pan.

Once again, congratulations to the CA Class of 2026! The graduation ceremony was a wonderful celebration and a powerful reminder of the journey many of those students have experienced at CA and in other schools. Many of this year's graduates were once students in our Elementary School, representing different grade levels and pathways. Some have been part of the CA community since PreK.

Those of you who have watched and guided them progress one grade level at a time, through both successes and challenges, should feel proud of the role you have played in supporting them along the way. Their accomplishments are a testament to the care, guidance, and dedication of the many educators who have contributed to their growth over the years.

We are also keeping a close eye on the tropical storm approaching Japan this week.

As a reminder, during the final two weeks of school, we ask faculty not to take personal days unless they are directly related to preparing for a departure from CA and/or Japan. This helps ensure that our many end-of-year events, classroom transitions, packing, and summer preparations proceed as smoothly as possible.

Let’s continue to make the teaching and learning meaningful and enjoyable for our students and one another.

Have a great week!

Katie, Erin, and Heikki

Weekly Updates, Monday, 25 May, 2026

Dear all

The last week of May will be filled with celebrations and important milestone events across the school community. The MS and HS Arts Festival continues, Lindsey will deliver the end-of-year addresses, we will celebrate the Senior March, and, of course, we will honor our Grade 12 students during the graduation ceremony.

The final 13 school days of the year often bring fluctuating emotions, lower energy levels, report card writing, and the many demands that naturally come with closing a school year. At the same time, our role remains incredibly important: to continue providing calm, predictable, and engaging learning environments for our students. Keeping routines and learning experiences as normal and consistent as possible helps students feel secure and supported during this busy season.

This week also marks the end of Season 3 clubs. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the rich experiences our students receive at CA beyond the classroom, in addition to the incredible learning opportunities designed every single day.

The past week also brought both expected and unexpected absences across the division. Thank you to everyone who stepped in to support colleagues, cover classes, and keep learning moving forward, particularly when support was needed at very short notice. Your flexibility, teamwork, and care for one another do not go unnoticed.

Let’s enjoy the week together and finish the school year strong.
