Dear Colleagues,
Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful and energizing spring break. As we dive into April—the month of sakura, o-hanami, the PYP Exhibition, Student-Led Conferences, and beautiful warm weather—we’re also excited to welcome seven new students to the Elementary School on Monday and Tuesday.
Our April faculty briefing will take place on Tuesday at 7:50 a.m. in the ELAC MPR. We’ll share information about the coming weeks, including upcoming workshops, the POI review, community celebrations, and end-of-year expectations.
On Wednesday, we’ll review the process and expectations for Student-Led Conferences. Inspired by their recent workshop, the EAL team will also guide us in deepening our understanding of WIDA standards and data and how to use them more effectively in our co-planning.
As the week progresses, you’ll start to feel the buzz as families begin preparing for our annual International Food and Fun Fair—one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year! Planning and preparations will ramp up toward the weekend to ensure another successful celebration on Saturday.
On Friday, alongside the delightful Shadow Puppet Show connected to Grade 2’s unit of inquiry, parents will begin setting up their booths in the Secondary School gym for Saturday’s big event.
Let’s greet our students with energy and joy and gear up for a week filled with learning, collaboration, and community celebration. We can’t wait to experience the food, flags, and cultural festivities together on Saturday!
Warmly,
Erin, Trevor, and Heikki
