Dear colleagues,
We would like to thank you for the hard work, collaboration, and inspiration this school year! We wish you good health, time for yourself, time with your family and friends, and plenty of great experiences through your travels and readings. Most importantly, we encourage you to have time to rest, rejuvenate and recharge. Those who leave us and CA for new adventures, we wish you the best of luck. Don't be strangers - keep in touch. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. Those who will return, the blog will be quiet from now on. However, if you insist or suddenly panic during your holiday, check out the links below to see the schedules, then take a deep breath and carry on whatever you were doing.
Trevor will be heading to London for assessment workshop this weekend and then to Canada with his family. Kim will be flying to Canada early next week with her family to relax at their cabin and travel. Heikki will be working with the rest of the leadership team and Remi-san next week, before traveling to Finland with his family to celebrate Maija's graduation with the family one more time as well as spend time at the hockey rink with Mikael.
Have a wonderful summer!
Kim, Trevor, and Heikki

Revision to end of year checklist
Dear colleagues,
We realize that the math sample (grade 3-5 MAP) is not simple to obtain and therefore it is removed from the list of documents to add into the Student Cumulative Folder. Therefore it is only a writing sample (On-demand or WrAP) that should be placed in the folder. These folders can be found in Kim and Trevor's office.
Also, please hand in the individual Reading Continuums as a class set and do not put them in individual folders. In the same office, there is a divided organizer to place your class set in. See photo below.
Thanks to everyone for all the effort you are putting into this.

Weekly Update, Monday 12 June, 2017
Dear colleagues,
It is time for the final weekly update of school year 2016-2017! The last week will be still busy and hectic for everyone. All we know that it will end with an ES assembly to celebrate the final day and release all the students, teachers, and assistants to their well earned holiday. In the midst of all the celebrations and parties this week, we are also getting ready for many classroom and office moves. If you need more cardboard boxes, please make a maintenance request and they will be delivered to you asap. Also, check out Chie-san’s email about cleaning classrooms. It is also important to check yourself out of the school year by using the end-of-year checklist. Please print out the relevant page(s) for collecting all signatures and hand them in for Heikki preferably by Thursday afternoon but no later than Friday noon.
Let’s all enjoy the last week of school!

Tuesday morning meeting slides
Dear colleagues,
Thank you for the smiles, effort, open-mind and support of everyone to ensure a successful school year 2016-2017!
Here are the slides from yesterday's meeting.
Please, note Heikki's proposal for the Sayonara Book Protocol:
1. This year's end-of-year leavers will be acknowledged in the end-of-year assembly (Sayonara Books)
2. From August 17-18 onwards, we will acknowledge all leavers in the ES assemblies if there is one between the family withdrawal and the departure date.
3. If assembly acknowledgment is not possible, classroom teacher will organize a Sayonara moment in his/her classroom and invite relevant teachers and the Principal to the event.
4. The basic protocol for both assembly acknowledgment and classroom Sayonara moment will be developed in August 2017 by Kim, Trevor, and Heikki with the input from teachers.

Weekly Update, Monday 5 June, 2017
Dear colleagues,
We are already well in the month of June and it feels that the days are slipping away like sand through our fingers. Big thank you to all for the effort, thought, and timeliness of writing the reports. Kim, Trevor, and Heikki will continue reading the reports this week and provide you with feedback. Timeline for the reporting process can be found here. The big ticket items at this point of the year include class lists, schedule, moving and packing as well as the end-of-year checklist.
This week we will meet on Tuesday morning to briefly look at the logistics of the Wednesday class lists, and transition meetings, and ES Schedule for 17-18, as well as to celebrate the end of the year by having breakfast together.
In the meanwhile, if you haven’t had a chance already, please use one of your planning meeting slots to design a draft-class-list going up from your grade level before the Wednesday meeting. Here you can find the outline for Wednesday's meeting and links the class list sheets (Gr 1 - 5 and PreK - KB) to record the suggested new mixture of students with their specific academic, social and placement information. Please note, that we are not able to accommodate teacher or friendship requests from parents or faculty.
Let's have a good week!

On Wednesday this week, we will be looking at the initial class lists created by the current classroom teachers and discussing some of the learners and their preferences and needs.
Please, keep in mind the following:
- New students may/will have an impact on the class lists.
- Your suggestions and input are vital so that Heikki can make informed final decisions about the class lists and the teacher assignment to each class
- Before the lists are confirmed in August, Heikki will go through the lists with the counselor, Learning Support Teachers, and the EAL coordinator to make sure that our support services can be organized effectively.
- We will not accommodate requests from parents or colleagues regarding class lists, friendships or the classroom teacher.
- Teachers will be assigned to each class in August.
