What a gorgeous weekend we had! Congratulations to the grade 12 students for completing their educational journey at Canadian Academy under these exceptional circumstances. Wishing them every success with their future!

As we are finishing off the month of May we have learned that the State of Emergency was extended to the 20th of June as predicted. Many of you have already shared your comments with your proofreaders. Thank you in advance for the hard work, thinking, and carefully crafted comments for the end-of-year report card. The deadline for the comments is this Wednesday. 

Again, thank you to everyone who has enabled those curriculum teams to meet last week as we have a shortage of subs. On Tuesday, we will have our final faculty morning briefing. In that meeting, we will clarify the schedules and share any final logistical information for the final days of school. This Thursday we (Riana, Trevor, and Heikki) will participate in the 21-22 school year operational goal setting together with the rest of the leadership team.

This Friday, Riana, Trevor, and Heikki will spend half a day exploring how the school-wide operational goals might translate into the ES planning for the school year 21-22.

Finally, we look forward to the Town Hall meeting this Wednesday, where we also have an opportunity to hear some Sayonara speeches to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful colleagues who are leaving CA.

Dear colleagues,

The last full week of May is at hand and we are getting busy with finishing the school year. Last week was busy with the 21-22 school-wide operational goal development meeting, curriculum reviews, final parent coffee, and the fabulous assembly. Thank you to everyone who made those events happen in addition to all the busy teaching and learning.

Now it is time to focus on completing report card writing and continue to work on the end-of-year checklist as well as keeping the students still fully focused on learning. 

This week starts with a Mathematics curriculum review on Monday and on Tuesday afternoon we have our penultimate Extended Learning session. On Wednesday we will celebrate and share our Tankyuu learnings with colleagues. As the end of the year is filled with transitions, the KB to Gr 1 transition is often considered as one of the more exciting one. Hence, we will lead a parent coffee for KB parents on Thursday to help them to prepare both their children and themselves for the new era in their educational life.

Finally, please note that the State of Emergency will most likely to continue until the end of the school year. Often our wonderful parents suggest many events, gifts, or celebrations mark the successful end of the year. Unfortunately, we need to hold on to our protocols in terms of not bringing treats to school, not organizing any gatherings or other celebrations with parents. Those who are traveling outside the country wouldn't want to risk the negative COVID-19 test required for traveling and also to ensure that we can finish this school year with success.
