Weekly Updates, Monday, 29 March, 2021

Dear O-hanami colleagues!

Welcome to the last quarter of the school year 20-21. We trust that everyone made the most of the well-deserved break and that we are excited to lead the learning in the classrooms again. Let’s hope we will continue to dodge any variants of the virus as the school resumes after the holidays so that we can continue as planned until June.

This week we will extend learning on Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday afternoon we will enjoy social games and the sakura season.

Let’s have a wonderful week!

Riana, Trevor, and Heikki

Weekly Updates, Monday 15 March, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

The sunny Sunday and start of the week will welcome us all to the final week before the spring break and the final full school week in March. After the spring break, we will be celebrating O-hanami, introduced to the month of April, and we will start looking at the final stretch towards summer!

Back to this week of which we start by the grade 5 meeting parents about the PYP exhibition. The culminating learning event will be the final display of inquiry in the Elementary School as well as paving the way towards Secondary School education. It is always such a privilege to all of us to be part of the celebration of the IB Primary Years Programme.

On Wednesday, we will look into the processing of learning data. Please, remember to generate recent data in case you haven’t got anything at hand yet, and bring it to the meeting so that the session benefits your design of learning directly. In addition to the assessment follow-up session, we will introduce the ManageBac which will be replacing the RubiconAtlas in the future as the host for our curriculum and unit plans.

On Thursday, we will prepare students for their spring break in our March assembly starting right after the lunch break at 13:35.

We will complete the busy week by hosting grade 3-5 parent coffee on zoom focusing on learning in the context of literacy. For this event we are flipping the first and second block of the day, allowing all grades 3 to 5 to work on literacy during the zoom session.

Let’s have a wonderful week!

Riana, Trevor, and Heikki
