Dear colleagues,
This week brings October upon us and the 6th week of school. By this time we are starting to have a better picture of the students and their needs socially, emotionally, and academically. Designing learning is getting easier and we can be more intentional as we have already collected ample amounts of evidence through learning tasks, observations, and conversations with the students.
As we have 3 and a half weeks before the parent-teacher conferences, it may benefit everyone to have your observations and tasks collated and organized so that you can review them frequently enough to best match the learning engagements with the students’ needs.
The Student Services team had a productive day last week to consolidate a common direction and understanding of how we as a school may best tackle the learner variability at CA and how will the Learning Support, EAL, and counseling support faculty, students, and parents to value and champion the diversity in our community.
This week the students in grades 3 - 5 will engage with the MAPs testing of which offer an additional data point in support of our assessment of individual and trends in student needs in the respective grade levels.
On Wednesday afternoon, we will be focusing on Extended Learning, curriculum development, and next unit planning. This is the continued attempt to differentiate our faculty Wednesday collaboration and learning and we look forward to working towards a model where both the school needs and faculty needs are met as successfully as possible.
Have a productive and enjoyable week!
Riana, Trevor, and Heikki
