Weekly Updates, Monday 1 October, 2018

Dear colleagues,

We are writing this blog post as the wind is picking up outside and it is raining sideways. We hope everyone stays
safe through the evening and we don’t have too many things to repair and clean after the typhoon has passed.
Assuming we are having a normal school day or perhaps delayed start, the week looks fairly normal until Thursday
when the next tropical storm may interject its distractions to the week. The strange start of the school year just
continues to puzzle us all. Thank you to all for making the learning and life at school as normal as possible.

A quick look back to the busy week we just concluded. Thanks to Rob and Emily for organizing the excellent
photo sessions. Thanks to Sim, Jan, and all the volunteer coaches and students helping out with the Falcon Cup,
and of course thank you to Pia and Trevor for organizing such a wonderful maths workshop.

October is upon us, so our Tuesday morning meeting will take place. In addition to a few informational items,
Murray will join us to share information and guidelines regarding all the digital forms that are changing our
lives at CA. On Wednesday, we will prep for the Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Tankyuu Brainstorming 2018

Dear colleagues,

Welcome to a full week for a change! Thank you again to Celia for the successful author/illustrator visit last week.
Mark Crilley was a fantastic experience for students, parents, and teachers. Although, this week is a full 5 days of
school it is far from following a normal schedule. Monday to Wednesday we are taking school photos. Also, on
those days we will continue our learning of mathematical practice that will support the development of a
mathematical mindset of growth with the wonderful Pia Hansen. Please note that the Wednesday PD with Pia is
not mandatory for PreK/KA, PE, Music, Visual Arts, Japanese, Counseling and library teachers.

On Friday, the annual Elementary School futsal tournament, the Falcon Cup 2018, will bring a number of teams
to join a soccer extravaganza at CA. Please, take the time to see and cheer for the teams.

Finally, as a reminder to all of us, we have 4 weeks to go before the first reporting to parents. In your team
meetings, it is time to start talking about how and what will be shared with parents about student progress
during the first quarter of school.

Weekly Update, Tuesday 18 September, 2018

Dear colleagues,

Yet another short week is upon us, and as the previous ones, it will be action-packed.

We will have Mark Crilley as a visiting author this week as well as the assembly on Thursday.

Please, make sure that students who are presenting in the assembly will join the practice on Tuesday and
Wednesday. On Wednesday, the CA faulty will get together to meet first with our school’s dedicated medical
doctor, Dr. Adachi. Then we will learn to set up our Tankyuu goals and finish the session with professional
learning opportunities lead by the leadership team.
