Weekly Updates, Monday, 24 April, 2021

Dear colleagues,

The last week of April is upon us. What an exciting week it is! Both Exhibition and Student-Led Conferences will conclude the week and launch the Golden Week break.

Thank you to the student council and the eco-club for organizing Earth Week and all the wonderful performers and presenters in the April Assembly.  This Wednesday we will be using the time to prepare for the big events on Thursday and Friday and working on any pending tasks.

Please note that IB exams will start this week and continue for the next three weeks. The theater and Atrium will not be available for other students to ensure that the exams can be successfully completed.

Have a great week!

Riana, Trevor, and Heikki

Wednesday Learning - IMSJ, Units of Learning 21-22, New Teams, Covid Update - April 21, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you to the IMSJ ES Team for informing us about the results of their research and collaboration in the IMSJ committee. We now have statements on International Mindedness and Social Justice to guide us on our journey from now and into the years ahead.

Thank you everyone as well for drafting the progression of your next units of learning for 21-22. This was goal number one for the Curriculum Development part of the meeting. Riana and I collected drafts from some groups and we will be collecting drafts from the other groups in the time ahead. **Our second goal was to set up links between subjects which we did not have much time for. We will follow up on this later.

Thanks again everyone for you time and collaboration. Here are our slides from the meeting.

Weekly Updates, Monday 19 April, 2021

Dear colleagues,

It seems that we are finally heading towards summer with the warm weather and bright flowers and green leaves everywhere. Despite the somewhat alarming and growing numbers of COVID-19 contractions in Kansai, we are confidently moving towards the last two months and aiming to finish the school year successfully.

This Wednesday, the International Mindedness and Social Justice committee will share with us the outcome of their work this school year and provide us some opportunities to think about how to incorporate those important principles into the units in the future. Additionally, we will look into the articulation of the units of inquiry and how they will be connected to the Units of Study in the school year 2021-2022.

On Thursday, we will get together as an Elementary School to celebrate learning and community in our monthly assembly.

We finish the week with another exciting Extended Learning afternoon and get ready for the final week of the month, Exhibition and the Student-Led Conferences.

Let’s enjoy the warm week!
