Dear colleagues,
The last school week of this ominous year of 2020 is here. It is time to try on the cautious smile on our faces, celebrate the season, and transition to the wonderful three-week-break by Friday. As we reflect this fall, we felt that a brief 3-minute skit, song, poem, dance, or any other artistic expression might capture just well the journey we have been on so far. With very little preparation, sharing our vulnerability, and throwing ourselves once more to the free fall, we are going to engage in this kind of activity during our Wednesday learning time. You may want to perform as a team or any other constitution of a group. You will have time for preparation on Wednesday. The time for both to prepare and perform is short to ensure that the quality of the performances doesn’t get too high and that we can be done by 4:15. We will be offering some refreshments to lubricate our minds for this finale.
Thank you for the hard work you have done in preparation for the 2020 Semester 1 report cards. We have had a blast reading the comments and looking forward to going through them all once again on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please, triple check your “ticks” so that they hit the right semester, all the standards, and that you have indicated N/A in some of the areas where the content is first taught in spring. We (Riana, Trevor, and Riana) will go through them again this week to ensure that everything looks good. In the case of missing information, please be prepared to act swiftly so that we can complete the reports before releasing them to parents. If you need a bit more time beyond the Monday 23:59:59 deadline, please let us know and we shall start checking that particular grade level towards the end of Tuesday or maybe even on the morning of Wednesday.
As the week may be emotionally engaging for everyone in the school, please help your wonderful students (and colleagues if need be) to get through the week maintaining the high standards of safety protocols related to the virus. Due to our rigorous efforts, we have been able to keep the school open all year. Let’s make it through the last week as well.
Finally, Trevor wanted us to pay attention to the cool week we have ahead of us. We are not sure if he refers to his choice of outfits or the forecast saying that the temperature is going to stay below 10 degrees Celsius on some days next week. So stay warm, cheerful, and calm. The holiday is right there.
We wish you a wonderful week!
Riana, Trevor, and Heikki
