Weekly Updates, Monday 29 October, 2018

Dear colleagues,
Welcome back! We look forward to seeing you all and continue to work together again after the well-deserved fall
break. The beautiful fall weather seasoned the fall break here in Japan and, if you were traveling, we trust that you
were enjoying the sunshine wherever you spent your holiday. Fall break marks an important milestone in our school
year and we are back after sharing our evaluations with parents to engage the students to learn whatever they have
as their next steps. Thank you again for your hard work and preparation for the conferences as it will be providing
a solid basis for designing learning from now on. We will get together as a school to celebrate teaching, learning
and collaborative efforts this Friday during the TGIF.
Let’s have a great week

Weekly Updates, Monday, 15 October, 2018

Dear colleagues,
This week we will land on the first milestone of the school year: Parent - Teacher Conferences and the fall break.
The first quarter of the year has been busy and varied with a number of planned and unplanned events,
Professional Learning, and busy student learning in the classrooms, as well as beyond the classrooms. One has
been able to observe very active, happy, and engaged learners as well as energetic and hardworking faculty
throughout the school every day. In the past week, we had a chance to speak with many parents during
the Sports Day and the Principal Coffee Morning, and the underlying tone and message were that they are very
excited and happy with the education their children are having access to.
Particularly, during the Coffee Morning parents were impressed with the students’ confidence, independence,
and respect of others when they observed student agency in the classrooms. Finally, congratulations to the
grade 5 team and students for getting through their camp despite the rainy start of the trip.

Weekly updates, Monday 8 October, 2018

Dear colleagues,
We trust you all had a great relaxing weekend as the typhoon missed us this time. Past week offered us a great
opportunity to have a more routine building week. Although, the grade 5 missed their trip to Sky Walk and
grade 4 had a day in a bus experience due to a flat bus tire.
This week is busy with many things going on in the school. We start on Monday with the Sports Day. Sports Day
is a shortened day, however, please make sure that all our students are dismissed either to the buses, parents, or
sent home before leaving school. On Wednesday, grade 5 students head out to their two night trip to Rokko
Mountain, we have a Principal Coffee Morning focusing on Student Agency, and in the afternoon we have
planning meetings in the first half and then teachers teaching teachers session in the second one.
Finally, on Thursday we get together in our assembly with MCs from grade 4 and hopefully, some more
presenters from either student council, announcements, performers etc. Currently, we have secured MCs,
Track Rats, KB character day parade, and Heikki’s message.

Let’s have a great week!
