Dear Colleagues,
Happy 1st of May to everyone! Last week as we finished the month of April, also meant the completion of the PYP Exhibition journey for grade 5 and the celebration of student learning through student-led conferences in grades PreK - Gr 4. Congratulations to the grade 5 team, students, and all the mentors for a very successful and profound presentation of inquiry-based learning, student agency, and action. Friday, last week was a day for the students to shine with their very supportive parents. The classrooms looked amazing, and children and families were engaged and excited about all the learning confidently demonstrated by the students. Finally, thank you to everyone for welcoming Helena Sobulis and Dawn Rock from CIS/WASC to CA. They were very complimentary about all the student learning, student agency, and self-directedness they observed during their visit.
This week will be a short introduction to the month of May, including some important milestones like the visit of the first Head of School candidate, Lindsay Berns, the May faculty briefing on Tuesday, and starting to get ready for writing the June report cards on Wednesday. DP exams will be starting this week as well, and grade 5 is engaged in WIDA language acquisition assessments.
Heikki will be travelling to Finland on Tuesday for family reasons and working via Zoom this and next week. Do not hesitate to connect with him from Wednesday onwards.
Let’s have a great few days of school!
