Dear Colleagues,
Here is the presentation from last Wednesday. Thanks for your time and planning to put our PD into practice.
Identity Centred Learning with Daniel Wickner
Dear Colleagues,
We are approaching the month of December, starting the last three weeks before the winter break, and getting increasingly busy with report card writing. We hope you take every opportunity to look after yourself and pace your work as much as possible.
This Tuesday morning, we will have our December Faculty Meeting to look ahead at the times and events before and after the winter break.
Tuesday afternoon, the ES Research & Design team will meet for half a day to launch our report card review process. This time we will review the ATLs, ensure that the evaluative standards are up to date after the changes in the grade-level standards, and see if the scale and criteria of evaluation still best serves the reporting of student learning. All relevant teachers will be consulted during the review process.
On Wednesday we will spend time on planning Extended Learning and the remainder of the time is reserved for report card writing.
On Thursday afternoon, the ES Principal Coffee morning will focus on assessment, data, and reporting to prepare the parents for the report card season.
Landmark learning. | Negotiating playground games. |
As the holiday party season is beginning, we have some guidelines for you as teachers to negotiate these events with parents.
Holiday parties can be held if we follow these guidelines:
masks worn at all times by students, teachers, and parents
hand sanitation
ventilation if indoors
appropriate physical distancing
no food
games, crafts, and gifts are great ways to celebrate the season
outdoor events preferable (no limitations for parent participation)
indoor events need to be arranged in a larger venue e.g. 3rd floor common, Atrium, ELAC MPR, Gym, Theater presentation space, BBT
limited parent participation for indoor events: up to 4 parents
Enjoy the week and the start of December!
Riana, Trevor, and Heikki

Dear Colleagues,
We hope you had an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate over our long weekend. We now have four weeks until winter break, which will be full of events, reviewing evidence of learning, and writing our reports.
We begin this week with our All-staff Professional Learning about the False Dichotomy of Disability and Inclusive Practices with Lee Ann Jung followed by Identity Centred Learning with Daniel Wickner. The schedule is here. Look for your groupings and locations for the morning and afternoon sessions.
On Wednesday, we have time for report writing and there will be an update from Jon about how the Town Hall will take place. Thanks to some student action in Grade 5, we will see our Grade 4 and 5 students have the opportunity to use the ramen bar as an option for lunch this week. This will mean a slight adjustment to lining up (look for poly spots on the floor) and some extra caution from everybody when moving around the cafeteria. A message will be sent out to families from the ES office today.
Session one after-school clubs are wrapping up this week, except for the Friday Cross-country and basketball which will run their last club next Friday, due to a make-up session.
Let’s have a successful week!
Riana, Trevor, and Heikki
