Weekly Updates, Monday, 29 August, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

The second week is upon us! Unfortunately, we still have a few teachers missing this week and partially next week. This will continue to ask for additional resources and patience from us all. We all understand how important it is to get the first few weeks in successfully. The ES faculty is so amazing in supporting and collaborating with each other that we are confident that we will get through this week successfully. 

This week’s EAL support is designed as follows:

Grade 1: Rose 

Grade 2: Cara / Rose

Grade 3: Cara

Grade 4: Kasumi

Grade 5: Kasumi

Erin will teach in grade 3 this week or until we feel comfortable having a sub in the class.

We have found some great subs who we feel can step in soon.

In the ELAC building, we will have full days for all learners. PreK/KA team is fully prepared to support the transition of the youngest members of our community. 

We will use the time on Wednesday to prepare for the Back to School Night. Please note that we will meet in the Library Presentation Space. The schedule for the BTSN will be coming out on Monday or Tuesday this week. On Thursday, we unite our forces to have the first Extended Learning session and we finish the week as we did the past week, with Grade 1 - 5 listening conferences.

Thank you again for your flexibility and understanding, given the challenging staffing situation.

We certainly hope that things will calm down and that we can continue our efforts to build harmonious and effective learning communities.

Dear Colleagues,

The time has come! We are excited to welcome all the 601 students back to school. Given that we have had these two and a half years of quiet time on campus, having so many children and parents appear on campus may be a bit overwhelming. 

Thank you all for the incredible effort and dedication in the past week. The classrooms look great, and we are all ready to start learning. You can find the Friday Briefing Presentation by following the link.

The first week will be full of opportunities to build community, introduce and bring back routines, and, most importantly, get to know the students. 

Erin, Trevor, and Heikki will be going around the different classrooms all morning before we settle for our afternoon meeting.
