Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the final full week of this school year!
The surprise three-day weekend seemed to have come at the right time. Sometimes we get collectively lucky. On the other hand, the shortened grade 5 trip was a slight disappointment to the students and the team. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the one-day trip successful.
We start the week with the final Extended Learning session and the Kindergarten trip to Kids Plaza on Monday. The Wednesday learning focuses on reflecting and celebrating this school year and, of course, thinking about the coming school year. Thursday and Friday focus on decluttering and packing grade 2 and the Student Services spaces.
This time of the year can be emotionally taxing as the students are tired and ready for the holiday, and so are we. The best way to support us all is to stick to routines and expectations and spend quality time in class meetings. Social and emotional learning is facing its final test as we get through this week. Some bottled feelings and friendship issues tend to bubble out during the last weeks of school, which means that the students benefit from calm adults around them and structured days.
We finish the week with a faculty and staff summer holiday party at the Kobe Club.
Have a wonderful week!
Erin, Trevor, and Heikki
