Weekly Update, Monday 12 September 2016

Dear colleagues,
Welcome back to another great week of learning. We hope that you have been able to establish working routines that provide sufficient time for planning, teaching and making assessment choices. Collecting and looking at student work at this time of year is important to be able to design such learning opportunities that are accessible and meaningful to the students. Additionally, students are working on their social settings and getting used to their teachers, so continue to be kind and firm with your guidance and language. Also, try to get into the habit of inviting the CA TV into your classroom.

This week we will have somewhat different schedule due to student and faculty photograph taking. Additionally, it is time to start looking at each faculty member’s annual goal in the form of Tankyuu. Wednesday will provide a great opportunity for setting and brainstorming ideas that may eventually become your Tankyuu goal. Starting this week, Heikki will be having listening conferences with the new faculty. The new faculty will be asked to find a 30-minute slot for a one-to-one meeting. With the invitation, the new teachers will receive a couple guiding questions to frame the conversation. Finally, when finished the busy week on Friday, we are blessed with a 3-day mini-break and will return to school on Tuesday the 20th of September.

Enjoy your week!
