Welcoming visitors to the Elementary School

Dear colleagues,

On Friday, November 17, the three CA counselors are hosting a Hyogo University of Teacher Education (Hyokyo-dai) visit. This annual visit started 9 years ago when Prof. Darryl Yagi was trying to establish their career education course. Their purpose is to observe our international education system and to see what kind of roles school counselors are taking.

This year, 4 graduate students and one professor will arrive at 9:00 in the morning and stay with us until 3:30pm. They will observe some of our classes after taking the school tour. If they drop by your classroom, please carry on your lesson as usual. We will also give them information about career development at CA.

On December 4th (Mon), four people from Tokyo will be visiting to observe and learn how our students learn.
  • Visitor #1: Mr. Manabu Murata
    • I first met him when he wrote a nice article about our summer programs about 5 years ago. He visited a few times and wrote several articles including Tech Kids Camp, centennial celebration and advertised CA as 'the most prestigious international school in Kansai'.
    • He owned a small English preschool until this past spring. The school is now called Global Step Academy under Global Educational Partners and Mr. Murata focuses on networking and writing articles for The International School Times.
  • Visitor #2: Ms. Yasuko Toshida
    • Yasuko is a K4/K5 Principal at Global Step Academy. Originally an early childhood teacher, her new position requires her to be in charge of curriculum, scheduling, overseeing teachers, and some teacher training.
  • Visitor #3: Ms. Vieda Morales
    • Vieda is is a Pre/K3 Principal at Global Step Academy. Her background is also in early childhood. She is in charge of 2-3 year olds.
  • Visitor #4: Mr. Takeshi Sakaitani
    • He went to Kyoto University, received MBA at USC, became a banker, and now runs Kids Island International Preschool in Tokyo. There are 3 schools, all adjacent to huge parks where they use as their playground.
Yasuko and Vieda are interested in what goes on in ELAC, and Mr. Murata and Mr. Sakaitani are interested in seeing the whole elementary school. They want to make sure they don't interrupt you. If there are times when you do not want the visitors in your classroom, please let me know.

Thank you for accommodating our visitors. We truly appreciate your flexibility. We will try not to disrupt your routine, but please welcome them if you happen to see them around.
