Dear Elementary School colleagues,
Welcome to the spirit week lead by the fabulous ES Student Council! Please, feel free to participate in the spirit
week as you see appropriate and suitable for you. Past week was busy with DJ Monsta, o-hanami, exhibition
preparations, Talent Show, and Student Council announcements. A lot of amazing learning took place in all
classrooms. This week we welcome Kim back and will launch the CA arts festival followed by numerous of
artistic demonstrations and performances taking place at the school. During the Wednesday PD time, we will spend
some time drafting an assessment calendar for the 18-19 school year. This is part of the assessment focus in the ES
action plan for this school year. The second hour will be designated for Tankyuus.
We will finish the week with a weekend workshop on developing Culture of Thinking a CA. This is one of the
main recent pedagogical initiatives and direction our school has taken on. We are privileged to have
Dr. Ron Ritchhart from the Harvard University helping us with the journey. This and the following week will
provide us unique professional learning opportunities to explore the eight cultural forces, design and
facilitate student learning in a manner that will allow students to think deeply, inquire with purpose, and
consequently become true ib learners.
