Back to School Night Schedule and parent letter

Dear colleagues,

Please find below the letter to parents regarding the BTSN and the new-revised-schedule. Please note that we did a sibling check and found out that last year's schedule works out best.

You may also want to check out the Student-Parent Handbook

Dear Elementary School parents,

I hope that the start of the school year has been smooth for you and your child(ren) so far. We are all excited to see everybody back and welcoming the new families in the school. Please note that we have updated our ES Handbook for school year 19-20. You can find plenty of useful and essential information by following this link to the handbook.

We are excited to invite you all for the Back to School Night this Thursday 5 September at 6:00 pm. We will start in the main theater, from where you will be guided to your child's grade level and classroom meetings. You will also have an opportunity to meet your child's Japanese, PE, Visual Art, and Music teachers. The evening will finish at 8:10. The Back to School Night will be offering you important information about the daily life at school, and you will meet most of the teachers who will be supporting your child(ren)’s learning throughout the school year.

One challenge with the Back to School Night is to create a schedule that would accommodate families with more than one child. With two children, it works if both parents can attend and they split and follow two different schedules. However, in the case of only one parent attending for multiple children, or having more than two children in the Elementary School, it is difficult to be in many spaces at the same time. Please do prior planning for the evening to secure at least a brief visit to the classroom of each of your children. Also, it is important to let your children know how you are going to spend the evening so that they know what to expect. Please, find the schedule for the back to school night here.

Finally, please do not hesitate to make a further appointment with your teacher if you would like to know more about learning in the class or if you missed the information due to visiting other teachers' sessions. The Back to School Night information will also be published on the class websites after the event.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday night!

Sincerely,

Heikki Soini

Elementary School Principal
