Dear colleagues,
Happy New Year and welcome to the wonderful new decade of 2020! For some of us, it may sound and feel a bit
surreal! For example, the amazing Millenials are not young people anymore. They are almost middle-aged!
It is also somewhat striking that most of our Elementary students were born between 2010 and 2020.
As we are planning the future of teaching and learning for our students it is time to be really talking about
22nd-century learning. 21st century skills and content focus is so yesterday. Given the passionate exploration of
those in the past twenty years, we should pretty much know it all by now and move on.

This week is going to be a full week of engaged action in the classrooms. What a great opportunity to start and
finish the month of January 2020 in a fortnight!

Routines, routines and once again routines will be your lifesaver this week. Skillful hiding of your back-to-work-
transition anxieties and a poker face conveying high expectations for learning behaviors and social interactions will
be ensuring a successful start of the second semester.

A few new students and families will be joining the CA community. Please, make them feel welcome and
supported as they transition to CA. Unfortunately, Remi is not well and will be joining the troops later. Therefore,
please do not rely on the ES office providing all the practical information about the school for the new families.
The tech department will be providing some support to the families as they join the CA digital world.
