Dear colleagues,
We start the incredibly rich week of learning with school photos and finish the 4th cycle with day 9 on Friday. Thank you to the grade 3 - 5 teams, Riana, Sonny, and Renee for the smooth and stress-free organization of the MAP testing. Let’s hope that this assessment data point will provide some support for all the other assessment observations and most importantly in understanding where the students currently are at. MAP testing is an external snapshot offering potential oversights or additional information on the grade level trends in learning.
Thank you for the great start with the yearly overview to ensure a balanced and carefully integrated learning for our students. We have been thinking and talking about integration and shortening the units for three years now, and we are clearly seeing some great results in providing deep and meaningful learning in a transdisciplinary model.
On Tuesday, we meet as a faculty from 7:50 onwards. On the agenda we have COVID-19 updates, TTT session logistics, Tankyuu resources, Parent-Teacher Conference logistics, Peek into November PD days, upcoming Parent Coffee, and ES assembly invitation.
On Wednesday, we are incredibly fortunate to have our in-house expertise on display. We have four sessions to choose from and each faculty member can choose two of them. Here you can find a sign-up sheet to explore two of the following:
The Essential Ingredients of Effective Co-Planning, All About Connection Before Correction, Experience Thinking Routines to Promote Reflective Thinking, or Learning For All: Sharing Effective Differentiating Instruction Practices Currently Used by Your CA Colleagues.
Let’s enjoy this great week!

COVID-19 Reminders
The following things are something we continue to draw our attention to:
Wear masks indoors at all times and help the students to remember that too including covering their noses
Hand washing and/or hand sanitizing regularly and frequently
Continue wiping tables every day
Maintaining physical distance indoors and outdoors
Walking your classes to both snack and lunch in the cafeteria
Minimizing the up and down movement on stairs e.g. fetching water bottles, baseball equipment, or wiggle boards, etc.
Paying attention to the physical distance (1-2m) in the classroom when teaching the whole group and placing the children in pairs or smaller groups
Utilize pacing and grouping strategies when organizing students to either start using/return equipment and release for transitions
