Dear Colleagues,
We are approaching the month of December, starting the last three weeks before the winter break, and getting increasingly busy with report card writing. We hope you take every opportunity to look after yourself and pace your work as much as possible.
This Tuesday morning, we will have our December Faculty Meeting to look ahead at the times and events before and after the winter break.
Tuesday afternoon, the ES Research & Design team will meet for half a day to launch our report card review process. This time we will review the ATLs, ensure that the evaluative standards are up to date after the changes in the grade-level standards, and see if the scale and criteria of evaluation still best serves the reporting of student learning. All relevant teachers will be consulted during the review process.
On Wednesday we will spend time on planning Extended Learning and the remainder of the time is reserved for report card writing.
On Thursday afternoon, the ES Principal Coffee morning will focus on assessment, data, and reporting to prepare the parents for the report card season.
As the holiday party season is beginning, we have some guidelines for you as teachers to negotiate these events with parents.
Holiday parties can be held if we follow these guidelines:
masks worn at all times by students, teachers, and parents
hand sanitation
ventilation if indoors
appropriate physical distancing
no food
games, crafts, and gifts are great ways to celebrate the season
outdoor events preferable (no limitations for parent participation)
indoor events need to be arranged in a larger venue e.g. 3rd floor common, Atrium, ELAC MPR, Gym, Theater presentation space, BBT
limited parent participation for indoor events: up to 4 parents
Enjoy the week and the start of December!
Riana, Trevor, and Heikki
