Dear Colleagues,
The November breeze is bringing a bit more winter-like weather to us. As the weather cools down we can continue to manage the ventilation in the classrooms by keeping the door and window open and cranking the heating up. This week is busy with parent meetings including MAPs, mathematics, and the PTA’s regular meeting. Additionally, we will celebrate as a community on Thursday in our assembly.
During Wednesday learning we will look into reporting and start by exploring the features of Power Teacher Pro, confirm the guidelines, schedules and proofreading processes, and then look after our wellbeing during the second part of the meeting.
After this week we have the opportunity to first take a short break with the long weekend and then enjoy professional development when back on Tuesday. That is definitely something to look forward to.
Let’s have a successful week!
Riana, Trevor, and Heikki
Message from Heikki:
I am somewhat relieved that the weather is not so enviable any more in Kobe. Although, the 17-19 degrees and the amount of sunshine beats the increasing darkness and the current -4 degrees here in Finland. We are exploring the opportunity to open the ramen bar first for the 5th and 4th graders and I am consulting with the Cezars to confirm the one day of the week when the local treat may be available for our students as well. Grade 3 may join the crowd later this year, and we keep the 1st and 2nd graders still waiting due to safety concerns we have about students walking around with a hot bowl of tasty soup. We’ll see how things work out with the older students first. A group of grade 5 boys and I met last week to plan certain days for playing soccer. Some of the conditions included having a system for conflict resolutions, exclusive features, and sportsmanship challenges that seem to be often connected with this particular sport. I will keep you posted about the outcome and plans as they become clearer.
Take care,
Heikki
