Dear colleagues,
Welcome back from the extended weekend to a short, 3-day week! We hope you have fully recovered from the conferences and are ready to look ahead to design learning to match the goals and aspirations explored and shared with parents and students last week.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, we will spend some time to reflect the first few weeks of 2023 to ensure that we design learning that is most impactful and responds to the diverse needs of our students.
The grade 5 team is already looking ahead toward the next reporting event, the PYP Exhibition. The PYP exhibition will provide the students in grade 5 an opportunity to continue the development of student agency, self-directedness, and inquiry skills. Although oldest in the Elementary School, the grade 5 students are not quite ready to run their inquiries independently, so we, as mentors and teachers, will need to provide the support they need to demonstrate a significant level of independence and ownership at the end of April.
The assembly rehearsal will start on Friday, so the MCs and student performances will be ready by Tuesday morning.
Have great 3 days!
Erin, Trevor, and Heikki
