Weekly Updates, Monday, 4 September, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

As we have swung into September,, we’d like to offer a heartfelt congratulations on completing your listening conferences. This initiative has been instrumental in opening lines of communication between teachers, students, and parents, setting the stage for a year of engaged learning and growth.

The early weeks of school are essential for establishing classroom norms and expectations. Observing your students closely and reading their behavioural responses is as crucial as designing effective lesson plans. Your attention to these details lays the groundwork for a positive learning environment. Thank you for making it a priority to share expectations with all learners. Clear communication is a tool that empowers students and sets them up for success. It's not just about the rules but about the learning objectives, the daily agendas, and the kind of classroom culture we want to establish.

Let's also focus on the week ahead as we prepare for the much-anticipated Back to School Night next week. This is an incredible opportunity to solidify relationships with parents and guardians, share your teaching philosophy, and give a snapshot of the curriculum the learners will engage with over the year.

Please note that we have our first Tuesday morning faculty briefing this week. We will share updates on Toddle, MAPs and WIDA testing, and information about upcoming events,

We've set the ball rolling with the listening conferences, and now is the time to maintain that momentum.

Let’s have a great week ahead!

Erin, Trevor, and Heikki
