Weekly Update, Monday 3 October 2016

Dear colleagues,
Good morning and welcome to October!
This week is a short week for students and hopefully a productive week for us as a faculty. We will have a busy week from Monday to Thursday and finish the week with either teacher selected collaborative learning and working sessions or cognitive coaching with Ochan Powell. The past week with Matt Glover brought home many of the concepts and practices we have been trying out since the R&W workshop was launched at CA. The parent sessions with Matt turned out to be very popular and were received with excitement and inspiration by the participants. The planning and lab sessions provided for our faculty many powerful show-and-tell learning opportunities, which were further deepened during the weekend workshop. We have every reason to celebrate our ever growing expertise in running effective mini-lessons, conferring to nudge, and being proud owners of stacks of appropriate and effective mentor texts. A huge thank you to Kim and Stephen Taylor for organizing such a great literacy learning extravaganza!
