 Reporting Cycle and Report Card in the School Year 2017-2018
Dear Elementary School parents,
I am writing to you to inform about changes in our reporting cycle and report card in the school year 2017-2018.
The process of reviewing the ES report card started in the school year 2016-2017, including research on best practices for communicating student progress and learning to parents as well as surveys to both faculty and parents.
We are excited to announce that the reporting process is now finalized and we will be implementing both the new reporting cycle and the new report card already this school year.
Reporting Cycle
A reporting cycle refers to the different reporting formats and times throughout the school year. The new reporting cycle has a balanced focus allowing us to communicate with parents every other month as follows:
· August 24,25, and Sept 1, 2017: Listening Conferences
· October 19-20, 2017:Parent - Teacher Conferences (New format)
· December 15, 2017: Report Card 1 (New timing and format)
· February 22, 23 2018: Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences (New)
· April 26-27, 2018: Student-led Conferences and Gr 5 Exhibition
· June 14, 2018: Report Card 2 (New format)
Report Cards
We have redesigned the report cards to reflect the revised CA curriculum standards more accurately, and to communicate student progress to parents effectively. The narrative comments will be more concise and precise focusing on students' strengths and next learning.
Parents will be invited to a coffee morning to learn more about the reporting process and the new report card closer to December Report Card time.
