May 2019 Running Record and Spelling Inventory

May 2019 Running Records/Spelling


It is time for the final Running Record and Spelling Inventory of the year!

1) Use Fountas and Pinnell system
2) May Running Record is on a Fiction text 
3) Every student is given both the running record and spelling inventory

Due Date into the system is May 31st (however you will want to gather data early for report cards)


Reminders:
  • instructional level is recorded (take multiple running records if needed to find instructional level- conversation chart taped to each box)
  • refer to information files in assessment box for reminders on scoring, coding, and finding instructional levels
  • see Learning Leaders if you require books outside of your grade level (Trevor A-N, Kim L-Z)

Level Expectations:
  • refer to chart for expectation at this time of year
These expectations have been created for CA complimenting the CA standards (referenced by Common Core and Fountas and Pinnell).  Therefore expectations are standards-based rather than internally benchmarked, even if they seem high for many students. Please take note of levels when assessing "Reading Foundational Skills" in the report card.
