Koulu.me - Free apps to support distance learning due to the ...
Dear colleagues,
Welcome back from the Golden Week break! Once again, thank you to Riana and Suzie for organizing
such a fun and engaging online Quiz Night! The warm summer weather and a few days away from
devices hopefully gave us all the opportunity to recharge.
As we continue to work hard helping the learners to stay engaged the three days of this week, you must
have noticed that we have exactly 6 weeks left of this school year. If you count the three days from this
week and realize that our last day of school will be on Tuesday the 16th of June it is exactly 30 school
days left. Notably, we have conquered 40 days of Distance Learning and even after spring break, we
mastered already 5 weeks of Distance learning. So we are way over the half-way mark. We can do this!
The determination, creativity, and resilience we have tapped on so far will be sufficient to get us through
this with success.
The 30 days of slideshows, carefully placed live sessions, and SeeSaw feedback will be the format we
get through and finish the school year. We still need to think about how students might collect their
belongings, return their library books and laptops. How might we say goodbye to the leaving students and
those colleagues who will embark on new adventures after the summer? We as a faculty need to complete
orders, write report cards, and design class lists for our next school year and potentially visit our
classrooms and offices to clear everything for summer.
This Wednesday we will spend time together to discuss assessment realities and we are looking forward to
hearing the teacher's voice for determining the final Report Card format and content for June. Please, note
that the meeting will be longer than so far during Distance Learning, up to 1.5 hours.
Finally, as Distance Learning may be something we need to be prepared to switch on and off more often in
the future, below you can also find some useful resources for deepening your understanding of effective
Distance Learning in the form of articles and up-coming Professional Development opportunities.
Have a wonderful short week!
Riana, Trevor, and Heikki
