Dear colleagues,
November has brought us the most wonderful autumn weather and colors. Let’s enjoy it as long as it lasts.
We start the week with Extending Learning opportunities in the afternoon of day 9. On Wednesday, we will look at the report card writing process and guidelines so that we can proceed with the first written record of student learning to our parents by the winter break. This session is followed by the planning of Extended Learning #7.
Thank you for your thoughtful and constructive feedback regarding the Wednesday Learning Time. We will keep those suggestions in mind as we think and plan for the coming Wednesdays. This Wednesday, the first part regarding the report card writing is mainly targeted for the classroom, Japanese, and Student Support Service teachers. Therefore, TLCs and MVPs can use their best judgment on how to best use their time between 14:40 and 15:30. Everyone is expected to be in the Extended Learning planning session from 15:30-16:30.
This Thursday, we as an Elementary School will join together through the online assembly. We are still hoping to get some student messages, performances, or sharing of learning. We will start the assembly at 14:35 and finish by 15:15. Please connect with Trevor and Riana for additional content.
So far we have:
- Student Council
- Track Rats
- KB-G1 Dance
- Principal's Message
Message from Heikki: "It was great to see you all via Zoom on Wednesday. I look forward to meeting with each and every one of you between now and winter break to hear about your professional goals and aspirations for this school year. Thank you all for taking on many of the additional duties I left behind. I know the students will appreciate your caring and positive support during lunchtime. The weather in Finland continues to be cloudy making the short days incredibly dark. I miss the sunny Kobe as I miss you, the students, and all the wonderful spirit and action in the Elementary School."
As we finish this week, yet another break gives us further opportunities to enjoy the autumn tint. After the long weekend, we return back to school on Tuesday for a 4-day week. What a treat!
Have a great week!
Riana, Trevor, and Heikki
