Dear colleagues,
The first full week of learning after the autumn break brings us a Tuesday faculty meeting, planning of the next Extended Learning, Parent Coffee Morning on MAPs testing, and hopefully a smooth transition back to COVID-19 and learning routines.
This week you will also receive an invitation to your Tankyuu meetings from Heikki. The purpose of the meeting is to support the process of finding a focus and plan the process and timeline for your professional inquiry. New teachers’ meetings will be about 45 minutes long and others between 20-30 minutes long. Additionally, new teachers are asked to look at the Teacher Performance Rubric in support of their Tankyuu choice. Please, contact Heikki, Trevor, or Riana in case you haven’t been able to join a group yet. You can find the slideshow from last Wednesday here.
On Tuesday morning we have the following items on our agenda:
Report card / schedule / template/standards to be assessed/guidelines / clinic of how to write strengths / next steps
Recess & Soccer
Vigilance in COVID protocols
Parent Coffee - MAPs testing
After-school Clubs Term 2 Update
Future dates
Lunch duty support - call for volunteers
Please note that in the cafeteria the seating has changed to accommodate the new students. There is a rectangular
table for new G4 students and a spare table in the G2-3 section for any new students that might join. The
G2-4 Seating plan has been updated accordingly.
This Wednesday, we will spend some time to reflect on the year so far and particularly focusing on Parent-Teacher conferences and Wednesday Collaboration time. The second part of the session will be dedicated to planning Extended Learning.
Message from Heikki: I landed safely in Finland after a weird flight with 8 other passengers on the rather spacious A350. The family was in both shock and excitement when we met. I went through my first COVID-19 test as I wanted to be sure that I am not carrying the virus to the rest of the family as there are no expectations for quarantine when entering Finland from Japan. The results were negative.
Have a great week!
Riana, Trevor, and Heikki
