Letter from ES Principal
Dear Elementary School Parents,
Welcome to the school year 2019-2020! I trust that you have all enjoyed the summer holiday and your children are ready to start school. Teachers are back in their classrooms and workspaces preparing to welcome the students back to school on Thursday, August 22 at 8:30 am.
We are starting with orientation for new families on Wednesday, 21 August. Again a large group of new families will be joining CA. We are looking forward to connecting with everyone, new and returning families, as the school year starts.
Please find important information, dates and time below:
New Families
Orientation for new families takes place on Wednesday, August 21 starting at 10:00am.
Returning Families
Returning students will join their classes and first meet their teachers on the first day of school. Please find your child's classrooms in the following locations:
- Pre-K/KA and KB: ELAC
- Grades 1 and 2: First floor
- Grade 3: Second floor
- Grades 4 and 5: Third floor
Class lists
On Wednesday, 21 August, parents are able to check their children's teachers on PowerSchool or come and visit the school around 2 pm when we post the class lists on the PowerSchool and in the hallway next to the cafeteria. It is also fine to find out about the class list on the first day of school.
Listening Conferences
Listening conferences are highly recommended for all parents in the Elementary School. A listening conference is a brief 10-minute meeting with the homeroom teacher where the parents can share their thoughts, hopes, and wishes regarding their child's learning and well-being for this upcoming school year.
Listening Conferences Schedule:
- Pre-K/KA, KB: August 22 and 23 1:00pm - 4:00pm
- Gr. 1 - 5: August 23 and 30 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Please note that childcare is arranged for CA students during the listening conference.
Signing up for Listening Conferences
Please sign up directly with the homeroom teacher when you come to drop off/ pick up your child(ren) on Thursday, August 22. New and Returning parents can also sign up on Wednesday, August 21 (11:00~ for new parents and 1:30~ for returning parents) in the cafeteria.
School Hours at the Beginning of the Year
Pre-K
- August 22-23, 8:30 AM-12:00 PM (no lunch at school)
- August 26-29, 8:30 AM-12:30 PM (students will go home after lunch)
- Starting August 30, all students attend the full day program.
KA
- August 22-23, 8:30 AM-12:00 PM (no lunch at school)
- Starting August 26, all students attend the full day program.
KB
- August 22-23, 8:30 AM-12:00 PM (no lunch at school)
- Starting August 26, all students attend the full day program.
