Dear colleagues,
First of all, congratulations on the successful busy past week! Both the Extended Learning and the Back to School Night were delightful and well-planned events. It was wonderful to hear you talking about the learning community, your collaborative teams, and of course the designing of engaging student learning in such an elegant manner.
This week begins with possible rain and wind of the passing Haishen typhoon. Let’s hope it will have a minimum impact on our logistics and learning. The positive news on the weather is that the scorching heat may be gone for this year.
Just a quick observation about the snack and lunch routines. As we release the students from snack or lunch, please pace the release of each table group so that we can avoid rushing and congestion as well as enabling everyone to have sufficient space and time to use the hand sanitizers. Just 10 seconds between releasing each table group makes a big difference in the manner we leave the cafeteria.
On Wednesday, we will have our first Principal Coffee Morning. This time the Parent Learning Program will focus on introducing our written curriculum, the approaches to teaching, and finally, sharing an overview of the kinds of learning we expect to see in the classrooms. We have planned a three-part-workshop, each about 15 minutes long. Our primary audience is the new families and those who have joined CA within a year. In the afternoon, we will have our annual child safeguarding training, and then we spend time planning the next Extended Learning taking place on Monday 14 September.
It has been great to see both collaborative planning meetings, artful teaching, and eager learning resuming in the past couple of weeks. All teams are in full swing and many creative ideas are introduced and tried out in the classrooms. Thank you all for maintaining and embracing positive mindsets towards being at school again.
Let’s have a great week!
