Weekly Update, Monday 11 September, 2017

Dear colleagues,
Once again congratulations for the successful past week! First impressions were made during the BTSN and they were positive of which offers us a great foundation to build the whole school year. Again, Thank you to everyone for making the planning, preparation, and execution to go so smoothly. Despite all the buzz around the BTSN, student learning was full on in every classroom throughout the week. We believe that this weekend with the time for rest and switching your mind off from work was welcomed by all.

This week will be still somewhat special and rather busy. We will have school photos taken; MAPS baseline testing will be happening in grades 3 - 5; Coffee Morning will be organized for parents on Student Support; we will be learning math on Wed PD; getting ready for launching our personal Tankyuu goals will be on the agenda. For the Tankyuu we will provide you further guidance and options on Wednesday afternoon to help you to choose your professional learning goal for this school year. Some interesting opportunities will be related to our operational goals and the self-study for CIS evaluation visit in the future. Additionally, we encourage colleagues across the school to connect and seek collaborative opportunities for the Tankyuu. Learning is effective and motivating when it is done in social context.

So take a deep breath, stay calm, and let’s get through this week smiling as the three-day-weekend will be here before we know.

Have a great week!

Guidelines for the photo session:
Please follow the times listed here. When you come to room N406 please have your students lined up by height. Either way is fine shortest to tallest or tallest to shortest.
We will be checking numbers and names using the computer this year so there will be no need for paper or for students filling out forms. All teachers and aides should have their photos taken when they bring their class.
I know there is a lot going on this week and there is never the best time for taking photos. Thank you for your help and patience. We will do our best to have things run smoothly.
Sincerely,
Darrick and the Publications Team
