Weekly Update, Monday 4 September, 2017

Dear colleagues,
Congratulations for completing the successful first full week and First Aid training on the weekend! Also, thank you for helping the students to move inside the building safely and in a calm manner. We trust you have had some time to rest and be ready for the full week number two. And, by the way, it is September already!

This week the regular supervision schedule will resume, and of the new faculty, Riana will be out with Ellen. I would suggest that Riana and Maiko roam around the playscape with the younger students and Ellen in the fields. Heikki will also be outside to help out. Baseball players can go to the other field to play if it is free. If there is a Secondary School PE lesson taking place, the baseball players can only throw and catch the ball on the furthest ES soccer field.

The big evening this week will be the Back to School Night. We are prepared to provide early dinner for the faculty starting at 16:30 in the cafeteria. Please, let Remi-san know in the office if you are not able to join us.

On the night itself, we expect to have a lot of parents coming to hear about the faculty, routines in the classroom and basic expectations for student learning and parent role. As, always, you will be feeling wonderfully supported by the great CA parent community. Enjoy the evening!

Also, this week Kaight is launching the always popular Track Rats. Please, help students to remember to bring appropriate shoes for the morning run. The students are so well prepared for learning after they have done a few laps in the field. Finally, on Tuesday morning we will be having our first faculty morning meeting. Please, check out the agenda below.
Have a wonderful week!

BookRoom
The former ES Bookroom has been split into 2 different spaces.  The small "skinny room" beside (S106 - G2S) will hold the leveled book library.  These can be borrowed by classroom teachers for students to take home or read in class. Teachers are asked to establish an accountability system to encourage books to be returned to this room. Unless urgent, please refrain from using these books until the spaces are organized after September 19th. In urgent cases, Kim is more than happy to help you to get access to these books before then.
Sets of books for instructional purposes (i.e., book clubs) will be located in the backroom of the library. We are currently establishing the space for that purpose.
